East Carolina Community Development Inc. Financial Statements

In this section of our website, you will find information about East Carolina Community Development Inc. (ECCDI)’s Financial Statements. It is presented in a consolidated format and comparatively for the years ending June 30th. Because our presentation does not include the audit as a whole (which would include presenting the auditor’s opinion, notes and disclosures), the pages have been marked as “unaudited”.

The Tax Return Form 990 is a regularly filed tax return report that all nonprofits must complete. These forms traditionally were used exclusively to report required information to the IRS, and are commonly used as a data source about nonprofits’ activities and finances. These tax return forms were not designed for broad public consumption, but to help regulators ensure that organizations remain true to their charibable purposes. A common source to view a nonprofit’s Form 990 is through GuideStar, an online database of information of nonprofit organizations. To use GuideStar to access Forms 990, you will need to complete a free registration process.

Seniors get new place to live - Jacksonville Daily News

Christina Batiste lived in Jones County with her daughter prior to moving to Jacksonville. She moved into her new apartment Aug. 2 and says she loves everything about it - particularly the fact that it's a nice place to live within her means. "... it's a beautiful place and it was just magic to get this place and it's affordable," she said. "It's close to the shopping area - mall. I can walk to my bank. It's just so nice because I have my own place and I love it here."

Affordable Housing for Eastern North Carolina since 1998

ECCDI’s first affordable senior housing development, Camellia Court located in Morehead City, NC, received the NCHFA Housing Award for its pin-wheel design providing individual apartment entrances, accent gables, attractive color schemes with a combination of brick and siding to prompt a very home-like facade. This design has been enhanced since then, and still offers a wonderful option for seniors.

All of ECCDI’s housing developments compliment the surrounding housing with attractive buildings, grounds and landscaping. And they are also located within close proximity to desirable amenities.

Affordable Single-Family Homes since 2002

In 2002, ECCDI came to the aid of flood victims in Lenoir County by developing 28 lots for single-family housing in the Uplands Park area of Kinston, NC. Then again in 2004, ECCDI assisted flood victims this time in Duplin County by developing single-family sites in the Summerfield area of Wallace, NC. ECCDI, along with the City of Jacksonville, started construction of 14 single-family low to moderate income homes on Huff Drive in Jacksonville, NC in 2002. The project was a wonderful success and was completed in 2006.

The development consists of two and three bedroom homes with approximately 1,200 square feet. Set in attractive, conveniently located areas, homes are within close proximity to banks, restaurants, shopping, churches, major highways, and community activities. Residency was available to income eligible individuals and families with certain income restrictions applying.

With the success of such single-family homes to the low to moderate income population, ECCDI maintains a strategic plan to develop a variety of single-family development sites in Beaufort and Jacksonville offering mixed-income sites in attractive and desirable locations.

Additional affordable housing in the near future from ECCDI

With the 2010 state and federal tax credit award from the North Carolina Housing Agency, ECCDI has begun construction of Glenstal Apartments in Jacksonville, NC. It will consist of 56 apartments for seniors. There will be 28 one-bedroom and 28 two-bedroom apartments. Glenstal will be conveniently located on Western Blvd. in front of ECCDI’s newest multi-family development, Meadow’s Gate Apartments.

The City of Jacksonville continues to grow, and county and city officials welcome ECCDI due to the high standard of affordable housing it continuously provides. As with all ECCDI developments, apartments are situated in prime locations close to desirable amenities.

ECCDI will continue additional affordable housing efforts in many eastern North Carolina counties with sites already in the negotiation process. Housing details related to ECCDI’s new projects will be updated as soon as construction begins.
