East Carolina Community Development Inc. now offers a small grant pool for non-profits seeking to help build the capacity of the applicant to plan, fund and implement community-based programs and projects that address the social issues in ECCDI’s Vision and Core Values.

Resourceful Community Development Grant award recipients include:
Communities in Schools $2,000
Communities In Schools of Carteret County was able to use the Resourceful Community Development Grant funds to provide materials and training for math remediation for all Communities In Schools staff and some elementary staff from several local schools.
The program called “Accelerated Math” pinpointed where students were weak and provided a concise and individualized plan for each student to remediate in the areas they were deficient in math. The training lasted for seven (7) hours, providing Communities In Schools instructional staff better insight in administrating the “Accelerated Math” program before the 2011-12 school year started.
