History
ACORN
(Alliance Cultivating Opportunities and Resources in Neighborhoods) is a private nonprofit agency established in 1999 that provides parent education and family referral services. ACORN is supported by a yearly grant from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. ACORN is sponsored by East Carolina Community Development, Inc. (ECCDI), which is dedicated to improving and enhancing the standard of living of the people of eastern North Carolina.
 

Mission 
The mission of the ACORN Center for Families is to develop and implement
parent education programs that prevent child abuse and improve the quality of life for the children and families in Carteret County.
